Imran Khan, the imprisoned founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is being subjected to mental torture in Adiala Jail, according to his sister, Aleema Khan. Speaking to the media outside the jail alongside Khan’s lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, Aleema claimed that while her brother has not faced physical harm, he has endured severe mental pressure.
Aleema noted that a medical check-up by Dr. Asim revealed Imran Khan to be stable, though he had lost weight. She stressed that mental torment was evident, likening it to the situation of Intezar Panjutha, another individual who, according to her, faced unjust suffering. She also criticized authorities, alleging that they manipulate legal proceedings and pressure investigators to lie without consequence, referring to previous accusations against Imran Khan, such as his alleged involvement in Zille Shah’s death.

Aleema characterized Imran Khan’s movement as a “Revolution for Justice,” warning that anyone could face similar persecution. She also appealed to the new Chief Justice to address the situation, stating that lawlessness could drive people to take extreme measures.
Salman Akram Raja echoed Aleema’s sentiments, urging national unity and peaceful protests to demand Imran Khan’s release. He announced that PTI would launch nationwide protests starting on May 9 from Swabi, vowing to continue the struggle until Khan’s freedom is secured.
