Former prime minister Imran Khan underwent a detailed medical examination in jail on February 15. The checkup focused on his right eye, which has been under treatment. A signed medical report confirmed improvement after ongoing care.
The examination was conducted by a board of senior ophthalmologists. The board included Professor Dr. Nadeem Qureshi from Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital and Professor Dr. Muhammad Arif Khan from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. Both doctors issued a formal report after completing the assessment.
According to the findings, vision in Imran Khan’s right eye has improved. Without glasses, his right eye vision was recorded as 6/24 partial. His left eye measured 6/9. With glasses, the right eye improved to 6/9 partial. The left eye achieved 6/6 vision with correction.
Doctors observed earlier signs of inflammation in the right eye. The inflammation had affected blood flow and the retina. However, the latest examination showed clear progress. Swelling in the right eye has reduced significantly.
The report states that retinal thickness has decreased from 550 to 350. Doctors described this change as a positive sign. Vision in the right eye also improved from 6/36 to 6/9 partial. At this stage, doctors termed the eyesight “quite good.”
Imran Khan is currently receiving anti-VEGF treatment. Experts have advised further testing after the treatment course is completed. They recommended OCT angiography and a Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA) test. These tests will help doctors assess retinal health in more detail.
The medical team also briefed leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and opposition members about the findings. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas met the doctors at PIMS. They received a detailed update on Imran Khan’s condition.
In addition, Dr. Asim Yousaf and Dr. Khurram Mirza were informed over the phone. According to the report, both opposition leaders and personal physicians expressed satisfaction with the treatment progress.
