Salman Akram Raja, legal counsel for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has reiterated that Khan has not admitted to any wrongdoing concerning the events of May 9. Raja made this statement after meeting with Khan at Adiala Jail and speaking to the media.
Raja emphasized that PTI’s stance is that there was a decision to hold protests at designated locations, such as the GHQ, following the Rangers’ actions in Zaman Park. He criticized the current environment, warning that it could lead to disaster, and underscored the need for public involvement in state welfare.

Addressing accusations from Senator Faisal Vawda, who claimed that Imran Khan is responsible for political instability and was implicated in the May 9 vandalism based on evidence from former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, Raja denied these claims. He asserted that Imran Khan has not admitted to any involvement in the May 9 incidents and reiterated that the PTI founder maintains that the events at Zaman Park and the judicial complex involved various security personnel.
Raja condemned the May 9 events, calling for accountability and a judicial inquiry, while rejecting any accusations that PTI is unwilling to engage in dialogue. He stressed that peaceful protests are a right and that the focus should be on identifying and punishing those responsible rather than blaming the entire party.
Describing Imran Khan’s current imprisonment conditions, Raja highlighted the harsh conditions and called for a more sensible approach from all forces involved. He reaffirmed PTI’s commitment to its position and its role in the hearts of the people, insisting that the party would continue to work towards the country’s improvement.
