Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, stating that he should resign if he cannot restore peace in the province.

According to sources cited by Geo News, Imran Khan said, “If Ali Amin Gandapur is unable to bring peace and stability, he should step down.” He further suggested that if Gandapur fails to address the province’s worsening law and order situation, leadership should be handed over to someone more capable of handling governance challenges.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with Balochistan, has seen a sharp rise in terrorism-related incidents following the return of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan in 2021. A police report obtained by Geo News reveals that KP alone witnessed 476 acts of terrorism between January and July 2025.

The violence claimed the lives of 121 civilians and injured 301 others. In addition, 66 police officers lost their lives in the line of duty, while another 90 sustained injuries. The report further states that 10 Levies personnel were martyred and 8 wounded, while the Frontier Corps (FC) saw 48 fatalities and 109 injuries. Additionally, 55 members of other security forces were killed and 112 injured during this period.

These alarming statistics have raised concerns about the provincial government’s ability to handle the security crisis. Imran Khan’s comments reflect growing frustration within the party over the deteriorating situation.

Meanwhile, sources confirmed that Khan’s jail privileges have been restored, including access to reading materials and newspapers. He was also allowed a one-hour phone call with his children a day earlier, marking a rare moment of relief amid his ongoing legal and political struggles.
