The former premier expressed his regret that the incident “should not have happened” to the media as he had “earlier as well” while testifying at an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the province capital.

Furious protesters set fire to the historic Jinnah House, which served as the home of the commander of the Lahore corps, when Imran was taken into custody.

Imran insisted that “every Pakistani” was denouncing the incident in his interaction with media today.

Imran was accused of harbouring terrorists who were behind the May 9 riots inside his Lahore home, according to the Punjab interim information minister. The PTI chairperson responded by saying that Imran had “opened his house” for the media to see and highlighted that the allegations were untrue.

Imran claims that Pakistan cannot function on “fear” because of the acts and human rights abuses of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). He claimed that by imprisoning “7,000” people, the PDM had put itself in a bind.

He insisted that conversations with the current administration cannot be one-sided and asserted that his party has been discussing negotiations for the previous 11 months.

The party head remarked of the PTI, “A party with such a large vote bank cannot be defeated. It is irrelevant who enters and exits.

Imran added that under the administration of military dictator (late) General Pervez Musharraf, arrests of PTI employees and sympathisers were unheard of.

He stated that the opposition to the PTI wants to “crush” the party totally and that “such a big crack down” on a political party had never happened before.

Imran referred to Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), when he said, “He who is calling himself Imam Khomeini, the biggest fugitive and dacoit of Pakistan will come back and contest the elections.”

Imran responded to a journalist’s query on his announcement of holding public processions by stating that elections would take place within a year and asking what nation did not hold rallies before elections.

In order to obtain pre-arrest bail in three instances filed against him, the ousted premier went to the ATC. Imran was detained on May 9 and charged with looting, setting fire to Jinnah House, and disrupting law and order.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
