Imam of Jeddah Mosque Deems YouTube Earnings as Haram

In response to a user’s question on Twitter, he explicitly stated the prohibited nature of YouTube earnings.

Although Asim al-Hakim did not provide a detailed explanation for the forbidden status of YouTube earnings in his response, he had previously mentioned on his YouTube channel that being a YouTuber has become a prominent occupation for many young people. In that statement, he clarified that earning from YouTube is not inherently forbidden from an Islamic perspective.

However, the permissibility depends on the content being uploaded. If the content includes elements that are considered haram, such as music, indecency, immorality, or obscenity, then the income derived from it would be deemed haram.

Asim al-Hakim holds significant religious influence as he leads the Friday prayers at Jeddah Mosque and has made appearances as a host and guest on various TV programs.
