Crackdown on Illegal Sale of Govt Textbooks

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board (KPTBB) has launched strict action against the Illegal Sale of government textbooks in Peshawar. The operation took place in the Hashtnagri area. Officials found books marked “Not for Sale” being sold at a private shop.

These textbooks were printed for free distribution to students. Selling them is a clear violation of government policy. The board moved quickly after receiving information about the Illegal Sale.

The action was ordered by Chairman Abidullah Kakakhel. Secretary Dr. Zainullah Garwaki and the Assistant Commissioner of Peshawar supervised the raid. A team visited Abdullah Book Agency during the inspection.

During the visit, officials confirmed the Illegal Sale of government-issued textbooks. The books were available for purchase despite clear markings. The team seized the textbooks on the spot. The shop was sealed immediately after the recovery.

Authorities also directed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the shop owner, Abdullah. Legal action will proceed under relevant laws. Officials said the Illegal Sale of free textbooks harms students and the education system.

KPTBB stated that these books are meant to help students from low-income families. The government provides them without any cost. Any attempt to sell them for profit is unlawful.

The board has warned other shopkeepers against similar practices. It said strict monitoring will continue in different areas. More inspections may take place in the coming weeks.

Officials urged citizens to report cases of Illegal Sale to the authorities. They said public cooperation is important to stop such activities.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board reaffirmed its commitment to fair access to education. It said free textbooks must reach deserving students. The board also stressed that no one will be allowed to misuse public resources.
