Illegal International Kidney Transplant Ring exposed in DHA Lahore

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Lahore police Organised Crime Unit (OCU) searched a rented farmhouse under the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), exposing a massive kidney transplant operation led by senior local doctors with ties to Dubai.

Dr. Tariq and Dr. Arshad, both doctors involved in the conspiracy, escaped detention during the operation. Dr. Saqib, their alleged mastermind, is already in Dubai. Investigations revealed that these three were running an illegal kidney transplant network for international patients, demanding large sums of money in foreign currencies.

Their main office is in Dubai, from where they facilitate illegal kidney transplants in Pakistan for their patients.

During the raid, officials came across two foreign individuals performing kidney transplant treatments at the farmhouse. Both were in severe condition and were sent to Services Hospital Lahore for prompt medical assistance.

Police interfered after getting information about the illegal activities at the farmhouse. The Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (P-HOTA) was aware of the issue, but took no action against those involved in the programme.

The OCU seized eight people in connection with the illegal activity, including aides, assistants, paramedics, and other staff. The criminals rented the farmhouse on Bedian Road in Lahore and converted it into an illegal kidney transplant centre.

Dr. Saqib, the suspected mastermind, has a history of illegal organ transplants. Efforts are being undertaken to apprehend Dr. Saqib, according to DIG retired Capt Liaqat Malik, the head of Lahore’s OCU.

His strategy was to entice foreigners in need of kidney transplants and direct them to Lahore. Companions would transport these people to the farmhouse for illicit surgical procedures.

The doctors preyed on poor people in Lahore and other parts of the Punjab, offering them amounts ranging from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 80,000 to serve as organ donors.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
