The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has accepted a petition that challenges the validity of the recent Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), directing the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University (SZAB) to conduct a new entrance exam within one month. Justice Arbab Tahir issued this ruling after reviewing a report from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), which highlighted that several questions on the MDCAT were outside the prescribed syllabus.

This decision follows a similar ruling from Justice Salahuddin Panhwar of the Sindh High Court, who mandated that the MDCAT be re-administered within four weeks due to reported irregularities in the examination process. During the hearing, Justice Panhwar, alongside Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, emphasized the necessity for clarity and fairness in the examination process, stating, “We cannot leave students in a state of uncertainty.”
The court’s actions reflect a response to numerous petitions alleging discrepancies and irregularities in the MDCAT, underscoring the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring a transparent and just process that protects the academic futures of the students involved.
