IHC Imposes Complete Ban On Video Recording In Court Premises

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a new circular banning all types of video recording within its premises.

The directive applies to journalists, lawyers, and the general public. According to the circular, no one will be allowed to record videos in courtrooms, corridors, waiting areas, or offices inside the IHC building.

The restriction extends to professional cameras as well as mobile phones. Both official and personal video recording have been declared prohibited across all sections of the court.

The circular further states that mobile phones may only be kept on silent mode inside the court. Any attempt to live stream or record proceedings will be considered a violation of the new policy.

The IHC has also banned the use of cameras for live coverage, tightening control over how court activities are reported. This measure is aimed at maintaining order and preventing disruptions during legal proceedings.

To ensure enforcement, security staff have been given authority to take immediate action against violators. This includes seizing recording devices and removing offenders from the premises if necessary.

The decision highlights the IHC’s firm stance on regulating media activity and maintaining discipline within its jurisdiction. While the move may restrict real-time reporting, officials emphasize that it is intended to preserve the sanctity of court proceedings.

With this new policy, the IHC has made it clear that courtrooms will remain free from unauthorized recordings, ensuring a controlled and respectful legal environment.
