IESCO will issue discounted bills within 2 days

Rawalpindi Commissioner Aamir Khattak announced on Tuesday that the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) will release revised electricity bills within the next two days. Customers who have already paid their bills will see adjustments reflected in their statements next month.

This comes as part of a relief initiative by the Punjab government, which is offering a Rs. 14 per unit discount on electricity consumption between 201 and 500 units for the months of August and September. The discount applies to consumers in both Punjab and Islamabad, with the Punjab government covering the difference between the actual electricity cost and the discounted rate.

Khattak stated that official communications have been sent to electricity providers to implement these adjustments. Following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, letters were issued to various distribution companies (Discos), including IESCO in Islamabad, LESCO in Lahore, GEPCO in Gujranwala, FESCO in Faisalabad, and MEPCO in Multan, instructing them to reduce bills for consumers using between 201 and 500 units.

The initiative, announced on August 16 by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, is backed by a Rs. 45 billion allocation from the Punjab government’s resources. This relief package aims to reduce electricity rates for eligible consumers during August and September.
