The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be relocated from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh.
The tournament will now take place from October 3 to October 20, with matches held at the Dubai and Sharjah stadiums. Despite the change in venue, the event will proceed as scheduled.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed regret over the decision, acknowledging the efforts of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in preparing for the event. He noted that travel advisories from the governments of participating teams made it impractical to host the tournament in Bangladesh.
Allardice assured that Bangladesh would retain its hosting rights for future ICC events and thanked the Emirates Cricket Board, BCB, Sri Lanka Cricket, and Zimbabwe Cricket for their offers to host. He also expressed excitement about future ICC events in these countries.
