The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced significant rule changes for ODIs and Test matches, set to take effect later this month. Starting July 2, ODIs will no longer use two new balls for the entire 50 overs. Instead, two balls will be used only until the 34th over, with a single ball used from the 35th over onward. This move aims to restore balance between bat and ball, especially in the final overs, addressing long-standing debates about reverse swing and spin.

For Test matches, effective June 17, teams will now be required to pre-name concussion substitutes before each match, specifying their roles—batter, bowler, spinner, or wicket-keeper. These updates are designed to enhance fairness, ensure player safety, and maintain the integrity of the game.
