Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf has been handed a two-match suspension by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the Code of Conduct. The ban will see him miss the first two ODIs of the upcoming series against South Africa.
According to the ICC, the decision followed disciplinary action for showing dissent towards the umpire’s decision during the recent series. The pacer was also fined part of his match fee and received two demerit points.
The incident occurred in the final ODI of Pakistan’s home series, where Rauf reacted aggressively after a disputed no-ball call. Match officials reported the conduct as inappropriate and against the spirit of the game.
Team management has expressed disappointment but stated they respect ICC’s decision. Sources indicate that Rauf has apologized for his actions and vowed to maintain better discipline on the field.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is unlikely to appeal, as the ban applies only to the first two matches of the upcoming tour. Pakistan may bring in another pacer to fill the gap.
Fans, however, expressed mixed reactions online — some calling the ban too harsh, while others insisted it was necessary for upholding professionalism in international cricket.
