Hyderabad Kingsmen Name New Captain before PSL 11

Hyderabad Kingsmen have named Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne as their captain ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11). Labuschagne will lead the team in their opening match against Lahore Qalandars as the tournament runs from March 26 to May 3.

The Australian star, signed directly by the franchise on February 5 for Rs. 5.88 crore, expressed excitement about joining the Kingsmen and vowed to justify the faith placed in him by the team and its fans. He also highlighted his ambition for Hyderabad to be competitive and target a title in their inaugural PSL season.

The Kingsmen have been proactive in assembling a strong squad for the expanded eight-team league. Among their key acquisitions is Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, one of the most experienced T20 players globally. Maxwell has represented Australia in 129 T20 internationals, scoring 2,897 runs at a strike rate of 158.42, including five centuries and twelve fifties, while also taking 49 wickets with his off-spin. His T20 career overall spans 502 matches, yielding 10,986 runs at a strike rate of 154.16 along with eight hundreds, 58 fifties, and 196 wickets, underlining his vast experience in international and franchise cricket.

Beyond the playing roster, Hyderabad Kingsmen are also establishing strong management and coaching leadership. The franchise, owned by Fawad Sarwar’s Kingsmen Group for Rs. 1.75 billion ($6.25 million), has retained a core of promising local talent, including Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Maaz Sadaqat, and Akif Javed.

On the coaching front, former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie has been appointed head coach, supported by Grant Bradburn as fielding coach. The team aims to blend international experience with local potential as they gear up for their first-ever PSL campaign.
