Hyderabad and Sialkot names as New Teams for PSL

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has formally announced the home cities for its two newly added franchises, marking a major step in the league’s expansion plans. According to league officials, the seventh and eighth teams will be based in Hyderabad and Sialkot, bringing top-level T20 cricket to two additional regions of the country and widening the PSL’s national reach.

Hyderabad has been selected as the base for the seventh franchise, which was successfully acquired by FKS after submitting a winning bid worth Rs. 175 crore. Representatives of the ownership group have confirmed the city as the team’s home and stated that the official team name, branding, and identity will be revealed during a dedicated launch ceremony in the near future. The move is expected to energize local cricket fans and create new commercial and sporting opportunities in the region.

Meanwhile, Sialkot will serve as the home city for the eighth PSL franchise. The team was secured by OZ Developers with a bid of Rs. 185 crore, which surpassed the league’s base price. This higher bid reflects strong investor confidence in the PSL brand and in Sialkot’s potential as a successful cricket market. Known for its rich sporting heritage, the city is expected to provide a passionate fan base and a strong cultural connection to the game.

PSL officials said the selection of Hyderabad and Sialkot aligns with the league’s long-term growth vision and highlights increasing commercial interest in Pakistan’s premier cricket tournament. Both cities have historic links to cricket and are seen as capable of supporting professional franchises.
