A strange domestic dispute in China gained widespread attention after a woman accused her husband of cheating based solely on an online fortune-teller’s claims.
The case occurred in Wuhu, Anhui, where the woman allegedly paid 500 yuan to a self-proclaimed spiritual “master” who told her that her husband was secretly visiting hotels with other women and paying for sex.
Despite his repeated denials, she fully trusted the fortune-teller and continually confronted her husband, worsening their relationship.
Police said the woman believed the fortune-teller because others had praised his predictions. The husband, frustrated and unable to convince her otherwise, reported the matter to authorities for help.
Officers eventually cautioned the woman against superstitions and mediated to calm tensions between the couple.
