China’s smartphone shipments declined by 4% year-over-year in Q2 2025, following the expiration of a national subsidy program, according to Canalys. Despite the dip, the country’s smartphone sector is still expected to outperform global trends this year.

Huawei Leads with HarmonyOS Surge

Huawei reclaimed the top spot by shipping 12.2 million units, capturing 18% of the market, and recording 15% annual growth. This growth was fueled by strong demand for its Nova 14 series, powered by HarmonyOS 5.0.

Vivo and Oppo Follow Closely

Vivo came second with 11.8 million units and a 17% share, though it saw a 10% decline compared to last year. The brand leaned on its X200, S30, and Y300 series to stay competitive.
Oppo, including OnePlus, ranked third with 10.7 million units and 16% market share, posting a 5% drop year-over-year.

Xiaomi and Apple Round Out Top Five

Xiaomi reported 10.4 million units shipped, gaining 3% growth and securing 15% market share, while Apple followed with 10.1 million units, up 4% year-over-year.

In total, 67.8 million smartphones were shipped in mainland China during Q2 2025, down from 70.5 million in the same period last year. The conclusion of government subsidies may slow down shipment volumes further in the second half of the year, Canalys warned.
