Before this restructuring, the ministry managed 4,621 posts, with 1,361 already vacant. The cuts affected various departments, including 25 posts in the main ministry, 1,598 in the Pakistan Public Works Department, 66 in the Estate Office, 50 in the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority, 51 in the Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation, 31 in the National Construction Company Limited, and 26 in Pakistan Environmental Planning & Architectural Consultants.

The move was approved by Housing and Construction Secretary Dr. Shahzad Bangash and reflects the government’s broader effort to streamline operations, reduce administrative costs, and improve efficiency in the public sector. Similar rightsizing initiatives are expected in other federal departments as part of ongoing restructuring efforts.
