HMD has introduced its new wireless earbuds, the Amped Buds, which come with a unique Qi2-compatible charging case that also functions as a backup battery for your phone. With a capacity of 1,600mAh, the case can extend your phone’s battery life until the end of the day.

Design and Build
The charging case is slim, measuring just 14 mm in thickness, which makes it highly portable and convenient. The earbuds feature a hinge mechanism that allows them to neatly fit into the case for charging. They are spring-loaded to provide a satisfying “pop” when being inserted or removed, and the stems fold forward for a conventional earbud wear.
The case supports Qi2 wireless charging, meaning it can magnetically attach to phones that are compatible with Qi2 or MagSafe. It will also work with any wireless charging-enabled phone or magnetic phone case, though non-Qi2 devices won’t enjoy the benefit of the magnetic connection. Additionally, the earbuds can be charged via a USB-C port.
Battery Life and Performance
HMD claims that the charging case can power the earbuds more than ten times, delivering up to 95 hours of total music playback. The Amped Buds are equipped with active noise cancellation (ANC) and environmental noise cancellation (ENC) to enhance audio clarity. The case has an IPX4 rating for dust resistance, while the earbuds boast an IP54 rating for splash resistance.
Color Options and Price
The Amped Buds, along with their matching case, are available in cyan, black, and pink. Combining style with functionality, these earbuds come at a premium price of €199, positioning them alongside other high-end models. HMD’s Amped Buds are expected to hit the European market in April.
