Cricket fans reacted negatively to Rauf’s post, in which he expressed his honour at watching democracy in action and being named as an Ambassador for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Fans were outraged, accusing Rauf of siding with the ‘fascist administration’ owing to his presence to the National Assembly.
This backlash follows a prior dispute over Rauf’s nomination as the Islamabad Police’s brand ambassador. Fans chastised him for reportedly backing a police unit accused of using excessive force on ‘peaceful protestors’ during a protest against the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
