The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a new Master of Science (MS) program in the Department of Media and Communication at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Shaheed Benazirabad. The program aims to provide students with advanced education in journalism, media, and communication studies.
The new initiative is expected to enhance access to higher education in central Sindh. Students will benefit from research-oriented learning and practical training without needing to relocate to larger cities. HEC’s approval marks a significant milestone for SBBU’s academic development.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Madad Ali Shah stated that media and mass communication are highly influential fields in today’s society. He said the MS program will strengthen research activities and equip students with skills in analysis, journalism, and media management. The program aligns with modern demands for skilled media professionals.
The MS program will officially commence after final approval and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Sindh Higher Education Commission. The university has already submitted the necessary request for the NOC. Once operational, the program is expected to attract students from across Sindh and nearby regions.
Dr. Shah highlighted that such programs not only improve the university’s academic reputation but also raise the overall standard of education in the province. He expressed hope that graduates will contribute positively to media research and the professional landscape in Pakistan.
HEC’s support for this initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to promoting higher education in specialized fields. By approving the program, HEC aims to provide opportunities for advanced learning, encourage local talent, and strengthen Pakistan’s educational infrastructure.
