Pakistan Sees Drastic Weather Shift as Rain and Snowfall Bring Temperature Drop
Various regions across Pakistan, including Islamabad, are witnessing a sharp change in weather, as rain and snowfall sweep through the country, leading to a significant drop in temperature.
In Islamabad, light drizzle and strong winds struck late last night, intensifying the winter chill.
Meanwhile, Azad Kashmir’s Leepa Valley is experiencing continuous snowfall, with areas like Bathwar Gali and Sher Gali receiving heavy snow accumulation of over a foot. The snowfall has disrupted daily life and cut off road access to the capital, leaving residents and authorities struggling with the situation.
In Punjab, the city of Sarai Alamgir witnessed its first winter rain, contributing to a notable temperature drop. While the seasonal charm has increased, travel disruptions have raised concerns for commuters and local officials.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), cold and dry weather is expected to continue across most plains, while hilly regions will experience very cold conditions in the morning and night. However, northeast Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir may receive thunderstorms, light snowfall, and rain in the coming hours.

In Abbottabad, Nathia Gali, Ayubia, and Thandiani have been experiencing intermittent snowfall since last night, causing a rise in freezing temperatures. Authorities have warned of potential hazards and power supply disruptions in multiple villages.
Additionally, Murree Road has been closed due to heavy snowfall, leaving travelers stranded and causing delays.
