Heavy rainfall to persist across Pakistan following a brief pause

Moist currents from the Bay of Bengal and a westerly wave are expected to impact Pakistan starting from September 2nd, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). This weather system will bring rain, wind, and thunderstorms across various regions of the country.

Here’s the forecast:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa:
Rain with wind and thunderstorms, including isolated heavy falls, is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan on September 2nd and 3rd.

Punjab/Islamabad:
Rain with wind and thunderstorms, and isolated heavy falls, are forecasted for Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, and Bhakkar on September 2nd and 3rd. Rain with similar conditions is expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Layyah, Rajanpur, and Rahimyar Khan on September 3rd and 4th with occasional gaps.

Kashmir:
Rain with wind and thunderstorms, including isolated heavy falls, are expected in Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from the night of September 2nd and September 3rd.

Gilgit-Baltistan:
Rain with wind and thunderstorms is anticipated in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, Shigar) on September 2nd and 3rd.

Balochistan:
Rain with wind and thunderstorms is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Sibi, Harnai, Ziarat, Kohlu, Barkhan, Loralai, Sherani, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Khuzdar, Kalat, Naseerabad, Awaran, and Lasbella from September 2nd to 4th with occasional gaps.

Sindh:
Rain with wind and thunderstorms is forecasted for Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Dadu, Jacobabad, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, and Sanghar on September 3rd and 4th with occasional gaps.

Heavy rains may lead to increased flow in local nullahs and streams in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, and Northeast Punjab on the night of September 2nd and September 3rd.
