Heavy rainfall and snowfall hit multiple regions of Pakistan on Tuesday as a strong westerly weather system moved across the country, affecting Punjab, northern areas, and Balochistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of continued wet conditions in the coming days, with potential disruptions due to the inclement weather.
Downpour in Punjab
Several cities, including Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Rawalpindi, experienced heavy rainfall, leading to water accumulation on roads and disruption of daily activities. Strong winds and intermittent showers were also reported in Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, and Khanewal. The PMD has cautioned about the risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas as rain is expected to persist.

Snowfall and Rain in Northern Areas
Murree, Galiyat, Swat, Mansehra, and Abbottabad received fresh spells of rain and snowfall, causing a significant drop in temperatures. Heavy snowfall in Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, and Shangla has made travel difficult, with authorities advising caution due to slippery roads and the risk of landslides.
Impact on Balochistan
Torrential rains affected Quetta, Chaman, and Zhob, while upper regions of the province witnessed snowfall and hailstorms. The heavy rain has disrupted electricity and communication services in several areas, adding to residents’ difficulties.
Weather Outlook
The PMD forecasts that the current wet spell will continue until March 2, impacting Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel in regions prone to landslides and flash floods.
