Heavy Losses as Israeli Ground Operations Kill Over 130 Palestinians in Gaza Overnight

At least 130 Palestinians were killed overnight following extensive Israeli ground operations in northern and southern Gaza, health officials reported. This surge in casualties comes on top of the 464 Palestinians killed in the week leading up to Sunday, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ongoing assault has devastated Gaza, displacing nearly all of its 2.3 million residents and resulting in more than 53,000 deaths.

Despite indirect talks between Israel and Hamas in Qatar, sources from both sides indicated no progress. Hamas continues to demand a full ceasefire, Israeli troop withdrawal, an end to the blockade, and the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for freeing Israeli hostages. However, Israel maintains a hardline stance, insisting on hostage release without halting military operations.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening rapidly, with hospitals overwhelmed by casualties, many of whom are children. The Indonesian Hospital, one of the largest in northern Gaza, has ceased operations after being struck by Israeli fire. Ambulance services are crippled due to fuel shortages, threatening to halt medical transport within days.

Adding to the turmoil, reports of Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar’s possible death have stirred tensions around the Qatar negotiations, though his brother Zakaria Al-Sinwar remains critically injured but alive. Meanwhile, Israeli families of hostages accuse Prime Minister Netanyahu of prioritizing political interests over peace efforts.
