In a standout performance, Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf set a new record in ODI cricket during the second match against Australia at Adelaide Oval. The game was part of the three-match ODI series currently underway between the two teams.
Haris Rauf took five wickets in the match, helping him reach a total of 77 ODI wickets. With this feat, he became Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker after just 39 ODIs. He moved ahead of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Saqlain Mushtaq, both of whom had taken 76 wickets in their first 39 ODI appearances.
The fast bowler’s consistency and pace have made him a key figure in Pakistan’s ODI squad. Since his debut on October 30, 2020, Haris has become one of the most dependable bowlers in limited-overs cricket. Among fast bowlers from full ICC member nations, he now has the highest number of wickets in ODIs during this period. Only Oman’s Bilal Khan has more, with 83 wickets.
Another highlight from the match was Mohammad Rizwan’s outstanding performance behind the stumps. The wicket-keeper equaled the record for most catches in a single ODI by taking six catches. This placed him alongside some of the biggest names in cricket, including Adam Gilchrist, Mark Boucher, Quinton de Kock, and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Rizwan had a chance to break the record when Adam Zampa edged the ball in the 34th over. Unfortunately, he dropped a simple catch, narrowly missing the chance to create ODI history.
Both Haris Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan’s efforts highlight the strength of Pakistan’s ODI squad. Their performances have given fans hope and energy as Pakistan looks to turn the series around in the final game.
