Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, celebrated for her versatile acting, has been appointed as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan, marking a new chapter in her career dedicated to women’s empowerment.
In a statement shared on Instagram, UN Women Pakistan welcomed Hania, announcing that she will use her influence to amplify the voices of women and girls, promote gender equality, and advocate for a society free from violence and discrimination.
The organization stated that together with Hania, it aims to create a future where every woman and girl in Pakistan can live with dignity, equality, and opportunity.
Hania is the second Pakistani to receive this distinction after Muniba Mazari (2015) and the third woman in South Asia, joining Sania Mirza and Muniba Mazari, along with Farhan Akhtar as the fourth regional representative overall.
Globally, renowned figures such as Emma Watson, Nicole Kidman, and Anne Hathaway have also held the title.
Several other Pakistani stars have represented different UN agencies, including Fawad Khan (UNDP), Shehzad Roy (UNODC), Mahira Khan (UNHCR), and Saba Qamar (UNICEF), continuing Pakistan’s strong presence in global humanitarian advocacy.
