Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has taken decisive action against the person responsible for spreading AI-generated deepfake videos featuring her. Following the viral controversy, Aamir identified the individual behind the fake content and has urged her fans to assist in reporting the account.
The videos, which featured explicit content and falsely depicted Aamir, were later confirmed as deepfakes—created using AI technology to superimpose her face onto another person’s body. Aamir responded strongly on Instagram, highlighting the dangers of AI misuse and questioning the lack of regulatory measures to prevent such incidents.

In her recent update, Aamir revealed that she had traced the account responsible for sharing the deepfake videos. The Instagram account, initially named “Anureet Sandhu,” had over 22,000 followers and featured multiple AI-generated videos of her. Aamir shared a screenshot of the account and called on her followers to report it. The account name was subsequently changed multiple times, including to “Core Sandhu” and later “Sandhu Core,” in an apparent attempt to evade detection.
The account, created in India and listed with a location in Chandigarh, had undergone numerous name changes since its inception in September 2022. Following Aamir’s call to action, her fans reported the account in large numbers, leading to the removal of the videos.
The incident has sparked renewed discussions on the ethical implications of AI technology and the urgent need for stricter regulations to address its misuse.
