Hamas Calls On UN To Act As Israel Escalates Gaza Offensive

Hamas has called on the United Nations and the international community to act as Israel escalates its assault on Gaza. The group urged urgent intervention, describing the situation as catastrophic.

Health officials in Gaza reported at least 73 Palestinians killed on Wednesday, including 43 in Gaza City. Homes, schools, and shelters were destroyed as Israeli airstrikes hit areas where displaced families had sought safety. Entire households were wiped out in the latest wave of attacks.

Residents described the assault as “apocalyptic.” One survivor, Sabreen al-Mabhuh, said her brother, his wife, and children were killed inside their home. Authorities in Gaza said Israel has used more than 100 explosive-laden robots in Gaza City over the past three weeks. Since August 13, more than 1,100 people have been killed in the city.

Hamas stated it is ready to accept a full ceasefire and exchange Israeli captives for Palestinian prisoners. Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed six more deaths from famine within 24 hours. The total number of hunger-related deaths has reached 367, including 131 children.

UNICEF warned that 132,000 Palestinian children under five could face life-threatening malnutrition by mid-2026. Aid groups confirmed famine has already spread in northern Gaza and is moving south, leaving families desperate for food and clean water.

Israel has rejected Hamas’s latest proposal, saying the war will only end under its own conditions. These include the release of Israeli captives and the disarmament of Hamas. The group has refused disarmament, saying it will only consider it if a Palestinian state is recognized under a two-state solution.

The United Nations reported that more than 82,000 Palestinians were newly displaced in just two weeks. Officials warned up to one million could be forced from their homes if Israel continues its push into Gaza City.

For Gaza’s 2.3 million people, the war shows no sign of ending, and survival grows harder each day.
