GTA 6 Development Still Incomplete—Release Timeline in Question

The highly anticipated GTA 6 may face another delay, just weeks into 2026, despite a confirmed November 19 release date. Rockstar Games has already postponed the game twice. Originally planned for 2025, it was delayed to May 2026, and later to November 19, 2026, to meet the studio’s quality standards.

Concerns about a third delay emerged after Jason Schreier discussed the game on the Button Mash podcast. He revealed that GTA 6 is still not fully content-complete. Rockstar teams are reportedly finalizing missions and levels, and decisions are ongoing about which content will be included in the final release.

Schreier added that Rockstar would prefer to delay the game again rather than release it in a compromised state. Even though the November date is viewed internally as more reliable, staff cannot confirm the game will be ready on time.

The news has frustrated fans. Many questioned Rockstar’s decision to reveal GTA 6 as early as 2023, when development was far from finished. Online discussions suggest that early announcements created high expectations, leading to disappointment as delays continued. Some fans feel Rockstar should only announce a release date once they are confident the game is complete.

Rockstar Games has not publicly responded to the latest speculation. However, its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, will hold an earnings call on February 3. The event may offer some clarity regarding GTA 6’s progress and potential release timeline.

Despite ongoing delays, anticipation for GTA 6 remains strong. Fans are eager to experience the game’s missions, open-world gameplay, and new features. Whether the November 2026 release holds or the game faces further delays, excitement and scrutiny around GTA 6 continue to grow.
