The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intercepted three women attempting to travel to Saudi Arabia under the pretext of performing Umrah at Karachi airport on Sunday, as reported by ARY News.
An FIA spokesperson confirmed that the women were detained during routine checks by the immigration team. Investigations revealed that they lacked crucial travel documents, such as return tickets and hotel reservations, raising suspicions about their true intentions. Authorities also noted that the women had previously been stopped at Lahore airport under similar circumstances. After their detention, they were transferred to the FIA’s Anti-Smuggling Circle for further investigation.

This incident follows a similar operation at Multan airport, where 24 individuals were intercepted while attempting to board a flight to Saudi Arabia. Upon questioning, the passengers admitted they were traveling with the intent of soliciting alms rather than performing religious duties.
Concerns Over Human Trafficking
These arrests come amid growing concerns about illegal trafficking networks, with the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development informing the Senate Committee about the alarming use of illicit channels to traffic individuals abroad. Many of those trafficked are later forced into begging.
