The statement comes just a day after the Supreme Court declared the ECP’s earlier decision to postpone elections in Punjab “unconstitutional,” dealing a blow to the government, which has been attempting to postpone provincial elections citing security concerns and the economic crisis.

On Wednesday, the prime minister addressed a meeting of the leaders of all coalition parties, referring to the Supreme Court’s three-judge bench decision, saying the Constitution and law were being mocked, and the fate of the nation was being decided with strange decisions.

He claimed that the three-member bench not only rejected the petition for the formation of a full bench to hear the case, but also dismissed petitions from other political parties.

“How was a decision of another bench ignored while members of the three-judge bench who had previously recused themselves and rejoined it?” he asked.

He stated that a circular was issued in response to Justice Isa’s directive, which was followed by the formation of a six-member bench that took up the issue and decided it.

The premier also mentioned the three-member bench’s directive on holding elections in Punjab province, as well as his observations on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election.
