The federal government has announced a gas price hike for specific sectors, set to take effect from July 1 (Tuesday), according to a notification issued on Monday. The increase targets bulk consumers, the power sector, and select industrial categories.
The notification clarified that there will be no change in gas tariffs for domestic consumers. However, domestic users will see a rise in their monthly fixed charges, which is expected to slightly impact their overall bills despite stable per-unit rates.

Tariffs for several sectors — including tandoors, commercial users, general industry, CNG stations, cement, and fertiliser — will remain unchanged under the new pricing structure.
Officials say the adjustment aims to ensure better revenue recovery from higher-volume consumers while maintaining relief for households and essential services. The move comes amid rising global energy prices and growing fiscal pressures on the national gas infrastructure.
