Govt Enforces Stricter Rules on Public Employees’ Overseas Leave

The Government of Pakistan has issued a notification implementing revised rules for overseas leave for public employees, including doctors.

Under the updated policy, all requests for foreign travel, officially termed ex-Pakistan leave, must now receive approval directly from the Chief Minister. Employees planning to travel abroad are required to submit their leave applications at least one month in advance. Prior approval is mandatory to allow sufficient time for travel arrangements and other necessary formalities.

Officials stated that the new measures aim to streamline the leave process, improve organization, and ensure greater transparency. Authorities highlighted that the directive is designed to prevent disruptions to government operations while allowing employees to plan their overseas travel efficiently.

The revised policy applies immediately to all relevant government departments and staff.
