The Punjab government has decided to reinstate the registration of a Lahore campus of a private college after an inquiry found no evidence of an on-campus rape incident. The Punjab Education Department has informed the college administration, and an official notification to restore its license will be issued soon.

Previously, the college’s registration had been suspended following protests sparked by allegations of a student being raped by a security guard. However, a government-led inquiry, chaired by Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, uncovered that the claims were part of a disinformation campaign.

The investigation revealed that false allegations were spread through fake social media accounts with the intent to incite unrest and disrupt public order. The committee expressed concern over the exploitation of the incident by activists and political figures for personal gain.

In its findings, the committee criticized the college management for failing to respond adequately to the situation and recommended government support for the affected student and family. It also called for action against those spreading false information online.
