Government Reverse Petrol Price Decision, Rs. 15 Cut Announcement False

In an embarrassing turn of events, the federal government reversed its earlier decision late at night regarding the reduction of petrol prices. Initially announcing a substantial cut of Rs. 15.4 per liter, the finance ministry later issued a notification for a much smaller decrease of Rs. 4.74 per liter.

The press wing of the prime minister’s office released a statement around 10:30 pm on Friday, indicating Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s approval of the initial price cuts. However, this sudden change highlighted a discrepancy and led to confusion among the public.

As per the Ministry of Finance’s notification, the price of petrol has been lowered by Rs. 4.74 per liter, and diesel by Rs. 3.86. Consequently, the revised price for petrol stands at Rs. 268.36 per liter, and for high-speed diesel, it’s Rs. 270.22 per liter.

The Prime Minister’s Office or the finance ministry have yet to provide any clarification regarding the earlier declaration of a Rs. 15 per liter decrease in petrol prices. This lack of explanation means many ordinary citizens will be surprised and disappointed upon discovering that the initial announcement of significant price cuts was inaccurate.
