Government Declares Public Holiday for Eid Miladun Nabi

The federal government has designated Tuesday, September 17, as a public holiday to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi. This decision was confirmed in an official notification from the Cabinet Division, allowing citizens across the country to honor the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

On this day, all government, semi-government, and private offices, as well as banks, schools, and colleges, will be closed.

Previously, on September 4, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, announced that the moon for the Islamic month of Rabiul Awwal had not been sighted in Pakistan. Consequently, the 1st of Rabiul Awwal will begin on September 6.

Maulana Azad confirmed this decision after comprehensive consultations and reports from across the country, stating that Eid Miladun Nabi will be observed on September 17. The announcement followed a thorough review of crescent sighting reports by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and other relevant authorities.
