Government Announces Rs. 10 Million Interest-Free Loans For Startups

The Government has announced interest-free loans of up to Rs. 10 million to support freelancers and startups across Pakistan. The initiative is part of the National Co-Working Space Program (NCSP), aimed at establishing 250 modern co-working spaces nationwide.

The program will be implemented under the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB). These co-working spaces are designed to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for freelancers, helping improve productivity and encouraging innovation. The Government hopes the project will strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy and foster a culture of entrepreneurship.

Each center will have a minimum of 100 seats and will operate through a public-private partnership model. Both new facilities and underutilized buildings are eligible to be transformed into co-working spaces. The initiative targets freelancers and young professionals who need well-equipped, professional environments to grow their businesses.

This move comes amid high youth unemployment in Pakistan. According to Gallup Pakistan, 8.9 million young people are unemployed, and 21.8 million are out of education, employment, or training. The Government aims to tap into the country’s growing freelancing potential in the global market and provide opportunities for youth to contribute to the economy.

The co-working spaces will serve as innovation hubs, offering networking opportunities, skill development programs, and collaborative environments. The loan facility can be accessed through the PM Youth Loan Scheme or commercial banks, and applicants are responsible for establishing, operating, and maintaining the centers.
