Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has revealed he underwent emergency surgery to treat skin cancer, shocking fans worldwide.
Doctors diagnosed Ramsay with basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer, and rushed him into treatment. Sharing a photo with a bandage under his ear, he thanked his medical team for their quick response.
In a lighthearted warning, Ramsay urged followers to use sunscreen, joking, “And no, it’s not a facelift—I’d want a refund for that.”
The news sparked an outpouring of support online. TV judge Robert Rinder sent his well-wishes, while Cancer Research UK praised Ramsay for spreading awareness about sun safety, reminding people to cover up, seek shade, and apply sunscreen regularly.
Basal cell carcinoma usually develops on sun-exposed skin such as the face, neck, or hands. While generally treatable, it is strongly linked to UV exposure and tanning beds.
Ramsay, who has earned 17 Michelin stars across his global restaurant empire, remains one of the world’s most famous chefs and TV personalities. His net worth was estimated at $70 million in 2020, ranking him among the highest-paid celebrities.
