Google Launches Direct Online Sales of Pixel Devices in India Ahead of First Retail Stores
New Delhi, May 30, 2025 — Google has officially launched direct online sales of its hardware products in India, including the popular Pixel phones, Pixel Watch, and Pixel Buds, marking a strategic move ahead of its anticipated debut of physical retail stores in the country.
For the first time, Indian customers can now purchase Google devices directly through the official Google Store India, bypassing third-party platforms like Flipkart and authorized resellers.
This move positions Google to better compete with Apple, which already operates dedicated online and physical retail stores in India. Apple currently has flagship outlets in Mumbai and New Delhi and plans to expand further.

According to a February report by Reuters, Google is in the final stages of selecting prime locations for its first-ever physical stores outside the United States. The initiative is aimed at replicating Apple’s successful retail model, which has helped the Cupertino-based company generate billions in hardware revenue through over 500 stores worldwide.
Pixel smartphones in India are priced between $360 (approx. ₹30,000) and $1,900 (approx. ₹1.6 million), depending on the model. In comparison, Apple’s iPhones range from about $520 to $2,100. To bolster its market share, Google has also begun local production of Pixel devices in India.
Despite this, Google’s share in India’s premium smartphone market (devices priced above $520) remains small—just 2% in 2024, compared to Apple’s commanding 55%, according to research firm Counterpoint.
India, with over 712 million smartphone users, represents a critical growth market for global tech firms. Google’s expansion through direct online sales and future brick-and-mortar outlets is seen as a long-term strategy to gain a stronger foothold in the South Asian nation.
