Google joined Pakistan in celebrating its 78th Independence Day by featuring a special doodle of the national flag on its homepage, symbolizing unity and pride. The homepage also offered users access to patriotic songs, historical stories, rare archival footage, and the latest Independence Day news.
The tech giant highlighted August 14, 1947, as the day Pakistan emerged as a free and sovereign nation, paying tribute to the vision and courage of its founding leaders. While past doodles have showcased monuments and landmarks, this year’s design focused solely on the flag as a powerful emblem of national identity.
The celebrations come with renewed enthusiasm following the “Marka-e-Haq” victory. President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in separate messages marking Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, urged unity, equality, and justice, while honoring Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, and the heroes of the Pakistan Movement.
Both leaders saluted the armed forces and martyrs, commending the military’s role in defending the nation and compelling the enemy to retreat. They also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and called on India to engage in dialogue to resolve all disputes, including the Kashmir issue.
