Google has introduced Doppl, a new experimental mobile app that lets users virtually try on clothing using AI-generated visuals tailored to their own body images. The app, currently available in the United States for iOS and Android users, marks Google’s first standalone platform dedicated to personalized virtual fashion experiences.
Users upload a full-body photo, then overlay selected outfits—whether from online shopping, social media posts, or personal wardrobe snaps—onto their AI-generated digital selves. Doppl sets itself apart by offering not just static previews, but also animated videos showing how garments move and fit, simulating a more lifelike experience.

In its blog post, Google described Doppl as an early-stage experiment under the Google Labs banner, emphasizing that the AI’s output may not always be precise in terms of fit or fabric details. Still, the app allows users to archive and share their favorite looks, hinting at social and exploratory use cases beyond conventional shopping.
While Google has previously offered virtual try-on features via its Shopping tools, those were limited to pre-set model types. Doppl now shifts the focus to personalized styling, reflecting a deeper push into merging AI and fashion in everyday user experiences.
There is no official confirmation yet on whether Doppl will expand to international markets.
