One Map, Two Purposes
Previously, Google Maps handled location sharing among friends and family. Now, the Find My Device app integrates both device tracking and people tracking in one place. The update also enables visibility of friends’ locations even if they use Google Maps on iOS, improving cross-platform functionality.
New “People” Tab
Android users will see a new “People” tab in the Find My Device app. This tab displays contacts sharing their location and includes management options to adjust or update sharing duration.
Inspired by Apple
The redesigned interface closely resembles Apple’s Find My app, featuring a split-screen layout with a map on top and a list of people or devices at the bottom. This makes it easier to switch between tracking lost devices and checking loved ones’ locations.
This update expands the utility of Find My Device beyond tracking lost gadgets, transforming it into a central hub for personal location sharing and real-time tracking.
