Goods Transporters End Strike After Talks with Sindh Governor

Goods Transporters in Karachi have postponed their planned strike after successful talks with the Sindh governor. The decision came after a meeting with Nehal Hashmi, who assured them that their concerns would be addressed on priority.

The meeting took place on Wednesday amid rising concerns about supply disruptions. The Goods Transporters had earlier announced a strike to protest against unresolved issues. However, the situation improved after the government’s intervention.

Malik Shehzad Awan, President of the Goods Transporters Association, confirmed the development. He said the governor promised to take up their issues with Shehbaz Sharif. According to him, this assurance played a key role in postponing the protest.

The Goods Transporters had raised multiple concerns related to their operations. These included regulatory challenges and financial pressures. Stakeholders were demanding quick action from the authorities to resolve these issues.

Following the meeting, transport leaders expressed satisfaction with the government’s response. Malik Shehzad Awan stated that their demands would now be reviewed at the highest level. He added that the government’s commitment encouraged them to delay the strike.

The decision to call off the protest has brought relief to businesses and the public. A strike by Goods Transporters could have disrupted supply chains across Karachi and other regions. It may have affected the availability of essential goods and increased costs.

Rizwan Irfan, President of the Karachi Electronic Dealers Association, also confirmed the development. He said the strike call was withdrawn after receiving clear assurances from the government. He noted that timely action helped avoid a major disruption.

During the meeting, transport leaders also praised national leadership for recent diplomatic efforts. They appreciated the role of Pakistan in easing global tensions. This added a positive tone to the discussions.

Officials have now promised to resolve the issues on an urgent basis. Authorities are expected to engage further with stakeholders to ensure long-term solutions. The government aims to prevent similar situations in the future.

The move highlights the importance of dialogue in resolving disputes. By addressing concerns through discussion, both sides were able to reach a temporary solution. The Goods Transporters have shown willingness to cooperate as long as progress continues.
