Gold prices in Pakistan surged to a historic peak on Monday as the rate of 24-karat per tola rose by Rs3,300, reaching Rs370,700 from the previous Rs367,400, according to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association.
The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also climbed by Rs2,829 to Rs317,815. Silver followed suit, with per tola and 10-gram prices increasing by Rs101 and Rs87 to trade at Rs4,303 and Rs3,689, respectively.
On the global front, gold rose by $33, reaching $3,480 from $3,447.
Meanwhile, the government revised petroleum prices for the next two weeks. Petrol remained unchanged at Rs264.61 per litre, while diesel dropped by Rs3 to Rs269.99. Kerosene and light diesel prices were also slightly reduced. The adjustments, recommended by OGRA and relevant ministries, took effect from September 1.
