The GHQ Attack case has entered its concluding phase in the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). The court has summoned the last three witnesses for the next hearing.
During the session, the ATC dismissed a plea filed by PTI founder Imran Khan. His legal team had requested the trial be paused, arguing that video-link proceedings should not continue until the Lahore High Court decides on related petitions.
So far, 44 prosecution witnesses have recorded their statements in the GHQ Attack case. With three more set to testify in the next hearing, the trial is moving toward its conclusion.
Khan’s lawyers maintained that continuing the case via video link before the High Court’s decision would be inappropriate. They also sought more time to review the legal aspects. However, the court rejected this plea and ruled that the proceedings would continue as scheduled.
The government lawyer reminded the court that Khan’s team had already filed two earlier petitions against video-link hearings. He argued that repeated petitions were aimed at delaying proceedings rather than resolving legal issues. The court agreed to hear detailed arguments in the next session.
In a separate application, Khan’s legal team also requested the re-calling of eight witnesses. The court issued a notice to the prosecution, which will be addressed at the next hearing.
The GHQ Attack case is one of the most significant trials linked to the May 9 events. With only a few testimonies left, the case is nearing its conclusion. The final outcome will be closely watched, as it involves serious allegations and high-profile figures.
