This adjustment is aimed at balancing costs amid fluctuations in international oil markets and domestic economic conditions.

The new prices are set at Rs 252.66 per litre for petrol, and Rs 258.34 per litre for high-speed diesel.

On December 16, the government had previously decided to maintain the price of petrol at Rs 252.10 per litre.

At that time, a notification confirmed that there would be no change in the petrol rate. However, the price of high-speed diesel had decreased by Rs 3.05 per litre, lowering its price to Rs 255.38. The cost of kerosene also saw a reduction of Rs 3.32 per litre, bringing its new price to Rs 161.66. Additionally, the price of light diesel dropped by Rs 2.78, reducing its cost to Rs 148.95 per litre.
