Free solar power systems have been announced for the following cities

The Punjab government has made significant strides in its solarization initiative, with the working plan for providing free solar systems now finalized. The project will be implemented in phases, beginning with a pilot phase approved by the Chief Minister of Punjab. In this initial phase, solar systems will be given at no cost to consumers using up to 200 units of electricity.

The pilot phase will start in October and will initially cover two districts, Rajanpur and Attock. The Punjab government aims to distribute solar systems worth Rs. 30 billion as part of this scheme.

In the project’s second phase, the distribution of solar systems will extend to less developed districts throughout Punjab. Consumers using up to 200 units of electricity will receive these systems for free, while those consuming up to 500 units will have access to interest-free loans for solar panel installation. The solar panels will be offered on a five-year installment plan, with lower installments during the winter months when solar generation is less.
