Frank Caprio, the beloved judge famed for his compassionate approach on the viral show Caught in Providence, passed away following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
The 88-year-old jurist, often called “the calmest and kindest judge,” was celebrated worldwide for his warmth and empathy. Caprio died peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, surrounded by family. In a statement, his loved ones encouraged people to continue his legacy of compassion: “In his honor, may we each strive to bring a little more kindness into the world just as he did every day.”
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee described Caprio as “a Rhode Island treasure” and ordered flags across the state to be flown at half-mast. McKee praised him not only as a judge but as a friend who embodied humanity in the courtroom.
